I was born in Rovaniemi and have lived here for almost my entire life. Ever since I was little, I loved making crafts. One of my teachers was my grandmother, who taught me how to knit wool socks and use a sewing machine. At home my mother sewed all kinds of things, but what I remember most is how I would get the leftover fabric scraps and sew little underwear for my dolls.

I have always been in visual arts classes, and I graduated as an interior textile artisan in 2013. I held my first art exhibition in 2021, and that same year I started hosting jewelry workshops. That was when I discovered my passion for guiding and helping others create something beautiful—something they can always carry with them. Once, a tourist asked if I could hold a jewelry workshop the following day so she could participate, and that’s where the idea truly began.

I wanted to create a unique, atmospheric, and unforgettable experience for visitors coming to Rovaniemi for the first time. An experience made by their own hands—one that they can take home as a memory. And that’s how Handmade by you – a memory to take home was born.
